Packrafting Skills and River Safety and Rescue Instruction

River safety begins with good paddling skills, but paddling is only a small piece of the puzzle. Let us teach you the ins and outs of the gear, the skills, and how to safely put it all together so you can set out on your own packrafting adventures.

Our instructional courses generally fall into one of two categories:

Packrafting Skills Courses

Focus is on paddling skills, gear and land travel considerations. Very basic safety content is covered. Ideal for individuals who take a River Safety and Rescue Course separately, or for packrafters who are not planning to paddle rivers.

River Safety and Rescue Courses

Focus is on safety considerations, rescue theory and techniques, hazards of the river environment, and use of rescue gear. Some paddling involved to get from point to point, and to train in packraft-assisted rescues. Ideal for anyone who recreates in moving water.

Additional information about the different course levels, participant expectations and requirements, and gear lists can be found here: COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND GEAR LISTS

NOTE: Due to a significant increase in the number of custom and private course requests this year, our group course offerings will be very limited in 2024.

If you’re interested in setting up a custom course for you and your friends, we want to hear from you!
